Bob Vylan review

Shit, took me a minute to get to this one. This past year the grime punk duo of Bob Vylan dropped their debut We Live Here. The sound is the bastard child of Trap and Anarcho punk with a British accent with the levels cranked to max to melt wall paint and fascist brains. This is easily the most interesting album in the last 5 years of punk. The Anarcho view from a black perspective is just something we don’t hear enough of as it’s still a drastically underrepresented viewpoint in the music. Stand out track on this is the title We Live Here which calls out the ever present ignorance of whites not being aware that people of color fucking live here. And everything on this album is straight out so blast the hatred out by cranking this shit!

Introducing Bob Vylan

He isn’t that new, Bob Vylan has been around for a few years. I found out about him from the track We Live Here which sounds like Dead Prez meets Crass. The evolution of anarcho punk has fucking occurred and you need to check it out! He’s a black guy from Britain with an amazing rap flow and a clear love of old hard core punk, gansta rap, trap and conscious hip hop. Another solid track is merch stand which slams hard as fuck. Solid blend of hard core and 808’s. My other top track from Bob Vylan is Fighting At The Church which is just an amazing straight ahead punk rap track. This one might be my favorite right now. Click the links below and blast this shit. If the neighbors hate it, play it louder!

The Wraith- Gloom Ballet

As a Cali kid who grew up on Anarcho and goth I was fuckin stoked to come across this! My first impression is Christian Death meets The Mob. Davey Bales even sounds like a deeper Rozz between the emotion and cadence. For those who maybe thought Anarcho and Death Rock were dead, you’re thankfully wrong. I’m talkin about the Wraith’s full length album Gloom Ballet. The sound and songwriting on this album are mind blowing. This is the soundtrack for masking up in all black and fighting the system or avoiding society altogether. They paint a soundscape of bleak perfection. So buy and/or stream this shit loud. Perhaps you can attract and train a murder of ominous crows to your beckoning call.

Punk Politics #40 On a MOVE! 35 Years Later

The gnarliest anarcho group you’ve never heard of. Fast facts to simplify this.

MOVE was an anarcho-primitivist organization. In Philadelphia, PA

MOVE was not black separatist as it had white members though its membership was primarily black.

Philadelphia police had brutalized several MOVE members over the years resulting in multiple miscarriages and the death of one child from a baton strike to the head.

In 1978 Philadelphia police had a standoff with MOVE at the MOVE house. This resulted in the death of one police officer from gunfire within the police line.

When MOVE members surrendered the police singled out Delbert Africa and brutally beat him for no reason.

9 MOVE members were given sentences ranging from 25 to 100 years for capital charges. Members have been denied parole as hearings came up.

In 1985 on Osage avenue (a black neighborhood) Philadelphia police had another standoff with MOVE members led by John Africa.

The police were armed with automatic rifles, uzis, 50 calibers and anti tank guns.

The police then dropped a bomb on the MOVE house and opted to let the fire burn as a “tactile weapon”.

MOVE members attempted to escape the burning house until police opened fire forcing them back into the house.

All 11 people in the house died. 6 of them were children. Evidence of gunshot wounds was found in the body of John Africa.

The Philadelphia municipality let the fire burn through the night resulting in the loss of 60 homes.

Ramona Africa who did escape was sentenced to 7 years in prison for a conspiracy charge (what conspiracy?)

These tactics are terrorism. The MOVE 7( 2 have died in prison) are political prisoners.

The 60 families left homeless are victims of terrorism.

The surviving members of the #MOVE9 have been freed as of earlier this year.

As of May 13th it has been 35 years since the MOVE house was bombed and thepolice literally set fire to any feigned interest they had in black lives
