Punk Politics #12

On the white washing of revolutionaries to declaw their message and meaning. Time to dispel these white lies. To talk about 2 specifically that mainstream culture watered down and fed us false idols of. Martin Luther King who we are taught is just this peaceful minister and “I have a dream” is the whole of his gospel. Well to just pass him and the civil rights movement off as that while Malcolm X and the Panthers are villanized is to tell the black community to know their place. To be docile and not uppity. He recanted the famed speech and scarily fortelling the reality in which we currently find ourselves. Link below

Second is Bob Marley. We’re constantly fed imagery of Bob is this popt smoking reggae man and misinformed white kids think rasta is an excuse to have dreads and get high. Bob was a revolutionary, practically anarcho. Rasta was a fight against Babylon which is the power and wealth held by the few (1%ers). Essentially the belief system of MOVE. The white right hand has gone to great lengths to ensure no one gets hip to these ideas by lying to white America and fetishizing the less challenging aspects of black power movements.
