Cornel West is running for president! This should be exciting news. But it’s with the people’s party. I’ll link a video below that goes into this party better than I’ll be able to. My short version is that it’s an absolute shit show inside of a dumpster fire. The leader Brana has numerous allegations of sexual harassment and forced out the board when they attempted to have him investigated for this. Also, his number 2 is Jimmy Dore, who’s just his own Reich wing cringe fest. So my question is why the fuck is Cornel, a man who’s known as an interactional revolutionary movement and thought leader is throwing in with this. The “party” is so unserious that they’ve only managed to get on the ballot in 3 states because they’re too busy being politically confused grifters. This is fucking depressing.

Update: As of yesterday 14JUN2023 Cornel West announced that he’s now pursuing tje nomination of the Green Party rather than the nominee for the perpetually failing shit show of the People’s Party. None of this discredits West’s previous work as its still deeply important to the progression of leftists thought and a lot of other good his work has done. My personal thoughts on what’s up with Cornel is that most of his generation and honestly a lot of elder millennials are stuck in what passed for leftist thought and action during the 8 years of the GW administration. Ya know, when people actually thought Green Day and NOFX were revolutionary for the extraordinarily topical political albums they dropped and the failure of Punk Voter for hitching itself to John Kerry. Or how a lot of people still think TYT Network is leftist. I at least thought they were progressive until about 3 months ago. Most of us has now learned that shit was purely centrist neoliberal. There is a real chance for a huge net gain for us the people however. Cornel being in a higher profile run will likely bring very important conversations to an intersectional forefront (getting white people to engage in conversations that get ignored) and will hopefully push more people left like Bernie’s presence in the past 2 elections. And Cornel is left of Bernie.
